WDV495 Emerging Technologies Seminar: Generative AI Software Overview
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a generative AI, which is something that can create new content based on prompts it is given and data it has access to. If we keep digging down further we will find out that it is an advanced neural network, which is a reward system used in machine learning. What that means is if ChatGPT is given a prompt and can generate the correct response it gets rewarded by whoever or whatever gives out points. This is great and terrible at the same time as it does pull from data it already has and has been trained on it can also make up information on the spot.
Uses
While it is currently being trained on data to make sure that the rewards are correctly balanced with it actually giving correct answers, the future use of it would be to give it some data and use it as an interactive chat bot for one reason or another. It is currently integrated with the Bing search engine to not only curate links but if you ask it a question it will generate a prompt like it would if you use ChatGPT on their website.
Future
While it is currently seeing mass use due to it being opened to the public, the future of ChatGPT is already secured considering it partnered up with Microsoft. But in its current state it is largely unregulated and it has the attention of the western world. What is it's future. No clue. Hard to tell at this point.
